Webster Shuts Out Blueboys, 1-0

Unbeaten after Three Games for First Time since 1999

Box Score For the first time since 1999, Webster University men's soccer team is unbeaten after three games. The Gorloks improved their season record to 2-0-1 with a 1-0 non-conference win at Illinois College.
 
Senior Patrick McCaffrey (St. Louis, MO / Bishop DuBourg) scored the winner 12 minutes into the game. He was the team's fourth-leading goal scorer with six in 2012.
 
Picking up the shutout in goal was junior Brian Woodward (Eureka, MO / Eureka), who made two saves.
 
Webster outshot its opponent, 15-8. The last time Webster had a 1-0 win on the road was Oct. 20, 2012 at Principia (Ill.).
 
The 1999 Webster squad, coached by Marty Todt, reeled off a 17-game unbeaten streak (15-0-2) to start its season. A senior on that team was current head coach Mike Siener.
 
Jamie Lawrence (Florissant, MO / Hazelwood West) saw his two-game goal-scoring streak come to an end. He was the third freshman in school history to debut with goals in first two games.
 
The other two are Abdullateef Al-Suraie (1985) and Mike Hutchison (1986). Hutchison, current Webster women's soccer associate head coach, scored in the first four games as a freshman, a span in which had five goals and three assists.
