Kersting Named SLIAC Volleyball Player of the Week

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 For the sixth time in her three-year career at Webster, senior Sam Kersting (St. Louis, MO/Lindbergh HS) has been named the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week (Offensive) for October 6-12.  This is her first selection in 2014, being also named three times in 2012 and twice in 2013.

Kersting, led the Gorlok attack in picking up a pair of conference wins last week. Kersting finished the week with an impressive .595 attack percentage, averaging 4.0 kills per set in her two outings. She started the week with 14 kills, on just 19 attacks, with no errors, in her team's 3-0 win over Blackburn College. Kersting followed that performance with seven total blocks in a 3-0 win over Eureka College, adding 10 kills. On the week Kersting finished with 24 kills in 37 attacks and averaged 5.3 points per set in the two matches.

Kersting moved into third place on Webster's all-time list in block assists this week, with a current total of 219 for her career.  Kersting is currently third on the Webster career block solo list at 146, and fourth with 365 total blocks.

As a team, Webster has won six straight SLIAC matches and are 9-2 in conference play.
