Men's Soccer Undefeated in SLIAC With Win Over MacMurray

Box Score Winning its fourth straight game, and fourth in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, the Webster University men's soccer team defeated MacMurray College (IL), on October 14 at the Soccer Park.  The Gorloks remained tied for the top spot in the SLIAC with a 4-0 record.  Webster took a 3-0 halftime lead, and wound up a 4-0 winner for the game to please a 'Pack The House' crowd in attendance.

Mike Wells (SR, Florissant, MO/McCluer North HS), Brendan Shields (SO, St. Peters, MO/Ft. Zumwalt East HS), and Nermin Hajrizi (SO, St. Louis, MO/Mehlville HS) all had first half goals for the Gorloks.  For Wells, it was his 19th career goal, tying him for 10th on Webster's all-time high list.  It was Wells' fifth goal of the 2014 season and team-leading 16th point of the year.

Tyler Brown (SR, St. Louis, MO/McCluer North HS) had the lone Gorlok goal in the second half.  For Brown, it was his first career goal at Webster, in 56 games played over four seasons.  The Gorloks outshot the Highlanders, 22-1, in the first half, and wound up at a 28-2 advantage for the contest.

Ian McReynolds (SR, Florissant, MO/McCluer North HS) played goal for the first half and picked up the win for Webster.  He evened his season record at 4-4-1.  Brian Woodward (SR, Eureka, MO/Eureka HS) played the second half in goal and shared the shutout with McReynolds.

The game, unfortunately, was marred by an injury to senior Taylor Overstreet (Florissant, MO/McCluer North HS) in the first half.  The contest was held up as Overstreet needed transport by ambulance from the field to an area hospital to be attended to.

Webster is 6-8-1 overall on the season.  The Gorloks' next game is on the road at Principia College, in Elsah, IL, on October 18.
