Box Score The Webster University volleyball team ended its regular season with a 3-0 win at Fontbonne University, on November 4. The Gorloks finish in second place in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, tied with Westminster College at 15-3.
The Gorloks defeated the Griffins, 25-11, 25-17, and 25-22 in what was a final tune up for the team for the SLIAC Tournament. The win was Webster's 18th straight over Fontbonne in conference play, dating back to 2006.
Webster had a .324 attack percentage on the evening, as several Gorloks had great nights at the net. Rachel Nelson (JR, Papillion, NE/Papillion-LaVista South HS) had 13 kills in just 16 attacks, with no errors for a stellar .812 attack percent. Sam Kersting (SR, St. Louis, MO/Lindbergh HS) and Andrea Dwiggins (SR, St. Charles, MO/St. Charles HS) each had 11 kills, hitting .389 and .333, respectively. Kersting also had two solo blocks and two block assists.
Megan Morrison (SR, St. Louis, MO/Lutheran South HS) had 18 digs to lead Webster in that category and Allie O'Toole (SR, St. Louis, MO/Lutheran South HS) led the Gorloks with 21 assists.
Webster is 20-12 overall on the season and will enter the SLIAC Tournament on November 8 as the #2 seed. The Gorloks will face Westminster in the semi-finals, at 4:00 p.m., at host Greenville College. Should Webster advance, the team will face the winner of the other semi-final, Greenville vs. Spalding University (KY), for the SLIAC Championship at 7:00 p.m.
Greenville is located 50 miles east of St. Louis. Take I-64/55 east, continue on I-55 north to I-70 east. Exit at Illinois Rt. 127 (exit 45), go left (north) and stay on 127 till you reach Elm Street. Go right on Elm to Greenville's campus.
Webster students will be admitted free with a Webster I.D. Admission to the SLIAC Volleyball Tournament is $5 for adults and $2 for ages 5-16. Children under 5 years of age are admitted free.
