"We played a heck of a game against a very good team", said head coach Luigi Scire. "The game could have gone either way in the second half but we came up short."
Calvin is the defending Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association champ and, like the Gorloks, picked to claim its league title in 2014. The Knights finished 19-3-2 a year ago, matching the Gorloks team-record 19 wins in 2013. Calvin advanced to the NCAA III Tournament for the eighth time in the last nine years, including a first round win.
Webster starts the season 0-1, and will be right back in action on August 30 at home vs. Edgewood College (WI), at the Soccer Park.
