Box Score The Webster University women's soccer team had a rough trip to Terre Haute, IN, losing to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, 3-0, on September 13. The Gorloks fell behind, 3-0, in the frist half and was uable to recover in the second, despite numerous scoring chances.
Webster outshot Rose-Hulman, 9-5, in the first half but the Engineers made their shots count, netting three goals to build a 3-0 halftime lead. Rose-Hulman went up 1-0 at 26:03 in the half and added a second goal at the 36:16 mark. The Engineers final goal came with only four seconds left in the half.
Goalie Jessica Davis (SR, Belleville, IL/Belleville West HS), who had a streak of 324 shutout minutes snapped, gave way to freshman Rachael Ainsworth (Salt Lake City, UT/Salt Lake School for Science Education) for the second half.
Ainsworth blanked the Engineers the final 45 minutes, and has allowed only one goal in 180 minutes of play for a 0.50 goals against average so far in her first collegiate season.
Webster outshot Rose-Hulman, 7-1, in the second half and forced the Engineer keeper to make six saves, but could not find the back of the net. For the game, Webster outshot Rose-Hulman, 16-6. With the loss, the Gorloks fall to 2-2-2 on the season.
The competition doesn't get any easier as Webster returns home on September 19 to face Washington University, ranked #1 nationally in the NCAA III, at the Soccer Park.
