Box Score The Webster University volleyball team picked up a well-earned road victory in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, beating Principia College 3-0, in Elsah, IL. The Gorloks improved to 3-1 in the SLIAC with the win.
Though the Gorloks won in straight sets, nothing came easy as Webster won, 25-19, 25-19, and 25-21. Webster had only two more kills than Principia, 43-41, but only seven attack errors in the match for a .308 hitting percent to the Panther's .148. The Gorloks also won the battle of the net, recording 14 total blocks to the Panther's one.
Jenny Howard (SR, Florissant, MO/Duchesne HS) had an all-around good night for Webster with 11 kills, 18 digs, and three block assists on the evening. Senior Sam Kersting (St. Louis, MO/Lindbergh HS) had 13 kills, three blocks, and three block assists to lead Webster in all three categories. Kersting added a service ace as well.
Rachel Nelson (JR, Papillion, NE/Papillion LaVista-South HS) had eight kills and three solo blocks, and one block assist. Katie O'Toole (SO, St. Louis, MO/Lutheran South HS) had 19 assists and five digs, and sister Allie O'Toole (SR, St. Louis, MO/Lutheran South HS) had 15 assists and eight digs. Jordan Vehlewald (SR, Wildwood, MO/Lafayette HS) led the Gorloks with 19 digs.
Webster is 7-6 overall on the season. The Gorloks travel to Fulton, MO, on September 27 to take on host Westminster College and Spalding University (KY) in a pair of SLIAC matches.
