Box Score The Webster University women's soccer team opened up the 2014 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schedule with a 7-0 win over Iowa Wesleyan College, in Mt. Pleasant, IA, on September 26. Seven different Gorloks scored and Rachael Ainsworth had the shutout in goal.
After scoring three goals total in its previous three games, the Webster offense has erupted the last two contests, scoring 12 goals. Kayla Dye (FR, St. Louis, MO/Windsor HS) had a goal and two assists for the Gorloks. For Dye, it was her third goal of the season.
Also scoring for Webster were Allie Ferguson (SO, Highland, IL/Highland HS), her team-leading fourth goal, and Vanessa Carlos (JR, Covina, CA/Sierra Vista HS), her second of the year. Amy Schield (SR, Belleville, IL/Belleville West HS), Whitney Scott (SR, Independence, KY/Holy Cross HS), Ashley Mess (JR, St. Louis, MO/Northwest HS), and freshman Leah Heath (St. Louis, MO/Ft. Zumwalt East HS) all netted their first goals of the season. For Heath, it was her first collegiate goal.
Ainsworth (Salt Lake City, UT/Salt Lake Center for Science Education) picked up her second shutout of the season. The blanking of the Tigers lowers her goals against average on the season to 0.80. It was Ainsworth's second straight win and she improves to 2-1-1 in the nets.
Webster makes a stop in Rock Island, IL, to face Augustana College on September 27. The Gorloks have a week off before travelling to Eureka College (IL) on October 4.
