Box Score The Webster University men's soccer team improved to 4-1-1 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with a 9-0 win over MacMurray College, in Jacksonville, IL, on October 17. The Gorloks got back on the winning track in the SLIAC as they slid into third place in the conference standings with the victory.
Webster started out slow, with the score tied 0-0, 26 minutes in, but then a steady rain of Gorlok goals began. Drew Quisenberry (FR, Morton, IL/Morton HS) put Webster on the board at 26:20 with an unassisted goal, followed by Zach Gyuricza''s (FR, Chicago, IL/St. Viator HS) sixth goal of the season, six minutes later. Jeremy Statman (FR, Austin, TX/McCallum HS) made it a 3-0 game, just three minutes later, and that's the way the teams ended the half.
The Gorloks scored three goals in a span of 1:45 early in the second half to salt the contest. Filip Delija (FR, Chicago, IL/Stevenson HS) scored at 54:51, followed by Ramon Perez (SR, Hazelwood, MO/Hazelwood West HS) at 55:34 and Corey Redington (FR, Dardenne Prairie, MO/Ft. Zumwalt West HS) at 56:36. Webster would get three more goals from Delija, Austin Pierce (JR, O'Fallon, MO/Francis Howell Central HS), and Tanner March (FR, St. Peter's, MO/Ft. Zumwalt East HS) for the 9-0 final.
Of the nine Webster goals, seven were scored by freshmen. For Delila and March, they were their first collegiate goals. Perez' goal was his first of the season.
Alex Bergmann (FR, Wentzville, MO/St. Dominic's HS) manned the nets for a scoreless first half, picking his fourth win of the season. Charles McGhee (FR, Waterloo, IL/Waterloo HS) took over in goal for a scoreless second half.
The Gorloks are 4-1-1 in the SLIAC and 5-8-2 overall.
The Gorloks travel to Louisville, KY, on October 21 to face Spalding University. The Golden Eagles, also in the hunt for a playoff spot in the SLIAC tournament, are 4-2 in conference play. Webster hosts Iowa Wesleyan University on October 24 at the Soccer Park.
