Box Score The Webster University volleyball team swept Eureka College, 3-0, on October 21 in Eureka, IL. The Gorloks improved to 12-3 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference as they continue their quest for a fifth straight SLIAC championship.
The Gorloks had an easy time vanquishing the Red Devils, winning 25-14, 25-11, and 25-11. Webster had 41 kills and hit at a sizzling .389 attack percentage. Emily Knowles (JR, Belleville, IL/Mascoutah HS) had a team-high 11 kills and a .500 attack percentage for the match. Rachel Nelson (SR, Papillion, NE/LaVista South HS) had eight kills and a .467 percent on the evening.
Knowles had a solo block and three block assists on the evening and Torie Grassi (FR, St. Louis, MO/Rosati-Kain HS) had three block assists.
Kelsey Hamann (FR, Waterloo, IL/Waterloo HS) had a team-high 19 assists and Katie O'Toole (JR, St. Louis, MO/Lutheran South HS) had a team-high 17 digs. O'Toole moved into ninth place on the Webster career dig list with 1085, passing Jenni Currie (1996-99) who falls to 10th with 1072.
Webster has won six of its last seven matches and is 14-10 overall. The Gorloks are 18-0 all-time in their series with Eureka.
The Gorloks will travel to Wisconsin this weekend to participate in the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Tournamet. Webster will face Wartburg College (IA) and Augustana College (IL) on October 23, and Loras College (IA) and St. Norbert College (WI) on October 24.
