Box Score The Webster University women's soccer team took a half game lead atop the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference standings with a 13-0 win over Iowa Wesleyan University, on October 24 at the Soccer Park. Lauren Pratt led the goal parade for the Gorloks with a hat trick, and Webster set a team record for shots on goal in the game.
Coming off tough loss at Spalding, giving them its first conference loss of the season and first since 2012, Webster is now 7-1 in SLIAC play with Westminster in second at 6-1. Westminster has games remaining at Greenville and at home vs. Spalding, while Webster has just one game remaining...a home game with Greenville. Mathematically, Spalding at 5-1-1 and Greenville at 5-1 are still in the hunt as well.
The Gorloks scored early and scored often. Chelsea Noser (FR, Collinsville, IL/Collinsville HS) got things started with her 11th goal of the season at 10:40. Pratt (SR, St. Louis, MO/Incarnate Word Academy) scored her first goal at 13:47. After a 17 minute lull in the action, Webster scored four goals in seven minutes before the half.
Adrianna Carochi (SR, Goodyear, AZ/Agua Fria HS) made it 3-0 at 30:05 and Jessica Mess (SR, St. Louis, MO/Northwest HS) scored her first goal of the season just 50 seconds later. Ashley Mess (SR, St. Louis, MO/Northwest HS) added her second goal of the year at 34:00. Gaby Medrano (FR, New Braunfels, TX/Canyon HS) made it 7-0 at the half with a goal at 37:32. It was the fifth goal of her freshmen campaign. Jessica Mess finished the game with four assists as well, giving her six on the year and surpassing the five she had in 2013.
Jodi Kaiping (JR, Waterloo, IL/Waterloo HS) got things started in the second half with a goal at the 52:00 mark. Pratt then completed her hat trick with goals one minute apart at the 55:00 and 56:00 marks. Allison Ferguson (JR, Highland, IL/Highland HS) got in on the scoring with her fifth goal of the year at 65:00.
Kayla Dye (SO, St. Louis, MO/Windsor HS), Ashley Yacks (FR, Whittier, CA/LaSerna HS), and Elena Bloma (SO, St. Louis, MO/Eureka HS) finished off the scoring for Webster, giving the Gorloks an unlucky 13 for the Tigers.
Robin Bolme (SO, Smyrna, TN/Blackmon HS) got the start in goal and picked up the win. She is now 4-4 on the season. Alisa Coralic (FR, St. Louis, MO/Mehlville HS) finished up in the second half and shared the shutout with Bolme.
Webster set a team record for shots in a game with 69 total. This surpasses 68 shots taken in a game vs. Blackurn in 2014. The Gorloks had 32 shots on goal. The 13 goals tied for the fourth most in a single game for Webster.
The Gorloks are 11-5 overall and are ranked 10th in the Central Region in the latest NSCAA rankings. Webster hosts Webster in the regular season finale on October 31 at the Soccer Park.
