Box Score The Webster University women's soccer team improved to 3-0 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with a 2-0 win over Fontbonne University, on October 7 in Clayton, MO. The Gorloks had goals by Brianna Pagan and Jen Laaksonen, and Robin Bolme had the shutout in goal.
The win was Webster's 22nd straight in the SLIAC for the Gorloks, dating back to 2012. Webster was ranked 10th in this week's NSCAA Central Region poll.
Pagan (SO, St. Louis, MO/Washington HS) broke a scoreless tie with her fourth goal of the season at 33:29 in the first half. Kayla Dye (SO, St. Louis, MO/Windsor HS) assisted on the goal. That proved to be the only goal in the half as Webster took a 1-0 lead into the locker room.
Laaksonen (FR, St. Louis, MO/Fox HS) scored an insurance goal, her third of the season, at 76:16 in the second half. Jessica Mess (SR, St. Louis, MO/Northwest HS) had the assist. Webster had 10 shots in the game, with nine on goal.
The Gorlok defense allowed just seven shots with Bolme (SO, Smyrna, TN/Blackmon HS) making two saves. She won her second game of the season, both being shutouts.
Webster is 7-4 overall on the season. Fontbonne is now 1-2 in the SLIAC and 5-7 overall. Webster travels to Carlinville, IL, on October 10 to play at Blackburn College and is back home to host Westminster College on October 13 at the Soccer Park. Westminster is also 3-0 in the SLIAC.
