Volleyball Sweeps On Senior Night

Box Score The Webster University volleyball team sent its 2015 seniors out in style, defeating Blackburn College, 3-0, on November 3 at Grant Gymnasium.  The Gorloks wound up the regular season at 14-4 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference on the evening they honored those playing their last contest at Grant.

The Gorloks won the first set, 25-16, then ran to a 20-8 lead as they won the second set, 25-9.  Webster wrapped up the match, jumping to a 15-5 lead before winning the third set, 25-10.

Fourteen players saw action for Webster.  Rachel Nelson (SR, Papillion, NE/LaVista South HS) had a team-high nine kills and Jory Siebenmorgen (JR, Eureka, MO/Eureka HS) had eight kills.  Nelson also had a block solo and block assist.  Kelsey Hamann (FR, Waterloo, IL/Waterloo HS) had 22 assists and Katie O'Toole (JR, St. Louis, MO/Lutheran South HS) had 18 digs, both team-highs.

Webster honored four seniors in a pre-match ceremony.  Emma Cabutti (Mahomet, IL/Mahomet-Seymour HS), Kaitlin Kendall (SR, O'Fallon, IL/O'Fallon HS), Nelson, and Dani Roosman (Cape Girardeau, MO/Notre Dame HS) all played their final home match for the Gorloks.

The Gorloks will travel to host Greenville College (IL) for the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference on November 7.  Webster, the #3 seed, will face #2 Westminster College in the semi-finals, with the victor advancing to play the winner of the Greenville vs either Fontbonne or Principia semi-final.  

Webster ends the regular season at 14-4 in the SLIAC and 16-17 overall.
