Men's Soccer Falls at Illinois College, 2-0

Box Score The Webster University men's soccer team opened the 2015 campaign with a 2-0 loss at Illinois College, in Jacksonville, IL, on September 1.  The Gorloks outshot the Blue Boys, 15-5, but couldn't find the back of the net as they start the year at 0-1.

Webster 10-9-2 in 2014, and the regular season champs in the SLIAC the last three seasons, are looking to return to the NCAA Tournament in 2015, last advancing in 2012.  Alex Bergmann, a freshman from Wentzville, MO (St. Dominic's HS) made his collegiate debut in goal for Webster, giving up two goals on the night.

Another freshman, Zach Gyurica (Chicago, IL/St. Viator HS), led the Gorloks with four shots (one on goal) and junior Brendan Shields (St. Peters, MO/Ft. Zumwalt East HS) had three shots, with one on goal as well.

Illinois College is a member of the Midwest Conference, going 10-7-2 in 2014. 

Webster heads to Iowa on September 5-6 to take on Wartburg College and Luther College.  Wartburg is ranked 17th nationally in the NSCAA preseason coaches' poll after advancing to the Round of 16 a season ago. Luther went 16-3-1 last year and received votes in the NSCAA preseason coaches' poll.
