Gorlok Women's Soccer Beats Lady Blues, 2-1

Box Score The Webster University women's soccer team opened the 2015 season with a win on the road as the Gorloks beat Illinois College, 2-1, on September 1 in Jacksonville, IL.  The Gorloks got goals from Chelsea Noser and Allison Ferguson, while the always stingy Webster defense gave up only one shot on goal in the contest.

Noser (FR, Collinsville, IL/Collinsville HS) put Webster on the board at the 65:00 mark after a scoreless first half.  Ashley Mess (SR, St. Louis, MO/Northwest HS) and Jen Laaksonen (FR, St. Louis, MO/Fox HS) both assisted on the goal.  Noser was playing in her first collegiate contest, after sitting out 2014 with an injury, as was Laaksonen.

Ferguson made it 2-0 at 81:00, with the assist going to Sydney Tedesco (SO, Belleville, IL/Belleville East HS).  Ferguson had six goals for the Gorloks in 2014.

Picking up where the stout 2014 Gorlok defense left off, Webster only allowed only six shots, with the lone Lady Blues shot on goal hitting the mark with just three minutes remaining in the contest.  Freshman Alisa Coralic (St. Louis, MO/Mehlville HS) picked up the win in goal, holding down the nets in the second half.  It was Coralic's first collegiate action as well.  Sophomore Robin Bolme (SO, Smyrna, TN/Blackman HS) shut out the Lady Blues in the first half as the teams entered the locker room at 0-0.

Webster outshot Illinois, 20-6, and had 12 shots on goal to one for Illinois on the game.  Webster had 11 corners to Illinois' four.

The Gorloks open the season 1-0 after finishing at 14-5-3 in 2014.  Webster is seeking its fourth straight appearance in the NCAA III Tournament.  Illinois College, a member of the Midwest Conference, was 11-5-2 in 2014 and starts the season at 0-1.  Webster travels to Indiana on September 5-6 to face Franklin College and Rose-Hulman Institute.
