The Webster University volleyball team closed out the regular season with a drubbing of MacMurray College (IL), 3-0, on November 2 at Grant Gymnasium. The Gorloks defeated the Highlanders, 25-5, 25-20, and 25-12.
Webster finished tied for third in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference at 13-5 and will have the fourth seed in the conference tournament. The Gorloks will travel to Greenville College (IL) on November 5 to face the host Panthers in the semi-finals. The winner of that contest will face the winner of the Spalding University/Westminster College semi-final immediately following for the championship.
Macee Owen (SO, Tucson, AZ/Empire) and Jory Siebenmorgen (SR, Eureka, MO/Eureka) both led the Gorloks with 12 kills each. Owen hit at a .409 clip for the match while Siebenmorgen hit at a .357 attack percent. Kelsey Hamann (SO, Waterloo, IL/Waterloo) had 24 assists to lead Webster and Katie O'Toole (SR, St. Louis, MO/Lutheran South) had 27 digs to top the Gorloks.
It was Senior Night at Grant Gym for volleyball and Siebenmorgen, O'Toole, and Emily Knowles (SR, Belleville, IL/Mascoutah) were all recognized before the match. O'Toole played four seasons for Webster while Knowles and Siebenmorgen each played two season after transferring from their respective previous schools. Each was recognized for their individual feats while playing for the Gorloks, as parents were honored as well.
Webster is 19-12 overall on the season.entering the SLIAC Tournament. With a win in the semi-finals Webster will reach the 20-win mark for the 10th time in head coach Merry Graf's tenure and the 14th time in program history. The Gorloks play at Greenville College on November 5, in hopes of bringing home a SLIAC Championship...and an automatic berth in the NCAA Championships.
