The Webster University baseball team completed a three-game series sweep at Eureka College, winning 16-1 in seven innings on March 21.  The Gorloks 10-runned the Red Devils, taking an 8-0 lead in the first and extending their advantage to 14-0 in the third.

Nine Gorlok batters reached base in the first, seven via base-hits, led by Mike Golich's (SO, Aurora, IL/West Aurora HS) two singles and two RBIs.  In the third inning, a walk, two doubles, an error, a single, all capped off by a Blake Thomas (JR, Troy, IL/Triad HS) three-run homer, were parlayed into a six-run frame .  After Eureka got on the board with a run in the fourth, Webster scored two more in the fifth for the 16-1 final.

Thomas was 2-3 with a home run, double, three RBIs, and two runs scored.  Golich was 3-5 with three RBIs, a stolen base and run scored.  Matt Murawski (FR, Mokina, IL/St. Rita HS) was 2-2 with two doubles, and RBI and run scored, and Jake Celleghin (SR, Westfield, IN/Westfield HS) was 2-2 with a double and two RBIs.  Webster banged out 15 hits and were the beneficiaries of four Eureka errors.

Five Gorlok pitchers limited the Red Devils to four hits and one run, while striking out eight.  Austin Beccue (SO, Red Bud, IL/Gibault Catholic HS) started and threw three scoreless innings.  Mitch Stefani (SR, Aurora, IL/Waubonsie Valley HS) pitched a scoreless fifth inning, picking up the win.

Webster is now 3-0 in the SLIAC and 9-8 overall with the win.

Webster hosts MacMurray College (IL) for a doubleheader on March 26 at GCS Ballpark.  The Gorloks travel to Mt. Pleasant, IA, on April2-3, for a three-game series with Iowa Wesleyan University.
