In the game, 10 Gorloks recorded at least one hit, including freshman third baseman

Kyler Kent (Pottsboro, Texas/Pottsboro) and sophomore catcher

With the win, Webster improves to 3-2 on the season, while Transylvania falls to 3-3 on the year.
While Webster's offense was in high gear, so too, was its pitching as sophomore pitcher
Matt Mulhearn (Chicago Heights, Ill./Marian Catholic) pitched six innings and allowed just two hits and one run, while walking one and fanning six to move his record to 1-1 on the year. Mulhearn, who threw 80 pitches in the game, entered the game with a 4.26 ERA and owered his season ERA to 2.92 following Sunday's performance.
The Gorloks jumped in front early in Sunday's game as Kent drilled the first pitch he saw from Nick Craddock over the wall in right center for a home run to give Webster a 1-0 lead. The homer was the first of the year for Kent.
Webster's lead grew to 3-0 in the bottom of the second as they use two hits, a hit batsman and a throwing error by Pioneers centerfielder David McAnelly. In the inning, freshman third baseman
Ben Swords (Freeport, Ill./Freeport) reached on a one-out double to right center, moved to third on a single by sophomore catcher
Joe Swanson (Park Ridge, Ill./Maine West). Swords would score on McAnelly's errors and following a balk by Craddock, sophomore leftfielder
Adam Lovell (Lafayette, Ind./Saint Joseph's College) would bring in second run on a ground out.
The Gorloks would push its lead to 7-0 in the third inning thanks to RBI singles by Swords and Swanson and scored its third run when Translyvania catcher Michael Blair overthrew second base on a stolen base by Swanson and Swords would score an unearned run on Blair's throwing error.
Webster added six more runs in the fifth inning as they sent 12 batters to the plate and scored six runs off of five hits. The scoring began with an RBI double by Swords, while the second run came home on a sacrifice fly by Swanson and after freshman shortstop
Matt Staker (El Cajon, Calif./Saint Augustine) was hit by a pitch, Lovell followed with a 3-run homer over the wall in right. The final run came when senior
Ben Dinter (Gurnee, Ill./College of Lake County) was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
Trailing 12-0 heading into the sixth inning, Transylvania broke up Mulhearn's bid for a shutout as McAnelly touched Mulhearn for a solo home run over the wall in right. Prior to the homer, Mulhearn had retired nine of the last 10 batters he had faced as he walked Riley Willbur to lead off the fifth inning.
In the seventh, freshman
Sean Beaver (San Diego, Calif./Scripps Ranch) took over for Mulhearn and struck all three batters he faced to end the game early due to the 10-run mercy rule.
Along with McAnelly's homer, the Pioneers other hit was a single in the third by Hudson Chastain. After Chastain's single, Mulhearn would retire six straight batters before Willbur's lead-off walk to open the fifth.
Craddock (0-2) took the loss for the Pioneers as he tossed 4.2 innings and allowed 11 hits and 11 runs (10 earned runs), while walking one and fanning two.
