WEBSTER GROVES - Webster University continued its hot play in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action here Friday evening as the Gorloks extended its win streak to four consecutive matches with its three-set victory over Iowa Wesleyan (25-17, 25-15, 25-18) at Grant Gymnasium.
With the win, Webster improves to 8-7 overall and 6-2 in the SLIAC, while Iowa Wesleyan falls to 3-13 overall and 2-5 in the league.
Along with winning its fourth straight match, Webster has also won 15 straight sets since its 3-0 setback at 10th-ranked Washington University in St. Louis on Sept. 20.
In Friday's match, Webster's offense recorded 38 kills and hit .153 and posted a season-high tying seven aces en route to earning a season sweep over the Tigers and improving to 12-0 all-time against IWU.
Defensively, Webster held IWU to an .035 attack percentage and outdug the Tigers, 76-65.
Three Gorloks recorded at least eight kills, including senior right side hitter
Samantha Budrovich (St. Louis, Mo./Lutheran South) leading the way with 10 kills and adding 14 digs for her third double-double of the season. In addition to Budrovich, freshman
Kylie Burke (Belleville, Ill./Belleville West) and sophomore outside hitter
Samantha Kruse (Waterloo, Ill./Waterloo) each had eight kills and hit over .300 as Burke hit .333 and Kruse posted a .318 attack percentage.

Kristen Farrah (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell) led WU's defense with 33 digs and has now recorded 30 or more digs in a match seven times on the year. Farrah currently leads all NCAA Division III players in digs per set as she is averaging 8.33 digs per set.
Five of Webster's seven aces came from two players as junior setter
Jenna Rodriguez (Smithton, Ill./Freeburg) tied a career-high with three, while Kruse added two aces in the win.
In the opening set, IWU scored the first two points and led 6-4 when the Gorloks used a 9-3 run to take a 13-7 lead. The run was aided by two kills each from Burke and Kruse. The Tigers, though, would score three of the next four points to drop WU's lead to 14-10. The Gorloks would answer with an 8-2 run to take a 22-12 lead. IWU would then score five of the next six points to pull within 23-17, before WU scored the set's final two points to earn a 25-17 lead. In the set, Webster hit .238 and held IWU to a .116 attack percentage.
The Gorloks dominated the second set as they jumped out to a 9-1 lead and led 13-5 when the Tigers used a 2-1 run to pull within 14-7. Webster, though, would close out the set by outscoring the Tigers, 11-8, to post a 25-15 win and take a 2-0 lead in the match. In the set, WU hit .111, while IWU hit .-.026.
In the third set, WU scored the first two points, before IWU scored four of the next six points to tie the set at 4. The Gorloks, though, would scored six of the next nine points to push its lead to 10-7. IWU would respond with a 7-2 run to take a 14-12 lead. The Tigers run was aided by five WU attack errors. WU answered with a 9-1 run to push out to a 21-15 lead. After the Tigers tallied two straight points to pull within 21-17, the Gorloks would score four of the set's final five points, including using a kill from sophomore middle hitter
Hayley Taylor (Highland, Ill./Highland), to seal its 25-18 set win and earn the three-set sweep. WU hit .113 in the set and held IWU to an .016 attack percentage.
Sydney Ellsworth and Lida Landre each had eight kills in the loss. In addition, Jenna Murphy had 21 digs and Paige Kammerer posted a double-double of 16 assists and 11 digs.
Webster will put its four-match win streak on the line this coming Wednesday, Oct. 3 as they host Fontbonne University for its annual Dig Pink match at Grant Gymnasium. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
