ST. LOUIS, Mo. – This afternoon the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced the Player of the Week awards for the week ending on Sunday, October 10
th. For their efforts on the field last week,
Noah Abraham was named the SLIAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week,
Jonny McCarthy was named the SLIAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, and
Jordan Lande was named the SLIAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
Abraham, a sophomore out of Hazelwood, Missouri, played a key role offensively for the Gorloks in their two conference wins last week. He finished the week with three goals and two assists for eight total points. He scored two goals and picked up an assist in a 4-0 win over Westminster (Mo.) College on Wednesday and followed that up with a goal and an assist in a 7-0 win over Principia (Ill.) College on Saturday. He currently has four goals and five assists for 13 total points on the year. This is his first career Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week award.
McCarthy, a junior out of Hazelwood, Missouri, has been a key player at the center back position for the Gorloks this season. He played very well in the Gorloks two wins last week and was part of a back line that did not allow a goal in 180 minutes of play. He has started all 12 games for Webster University this fall and has been instrumental in the teams eight shutouts this season. The team has allowed just one goal in conference play and has not allowed a goal in the last four games. This is his first career Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week award.
Lande, a senior out of Sachse, Texas, scored two goals and had two assists in the Gorloks 9-0 win over Principia (Ill.) College on Saturday. Lande currently leads the Gorloks with 13 goals and five assists for 31 total points on the season. She currently leads the conference in goals and points, while sitting third in the conference in assists. Lande currently sits at 44 career goals which is just four behind Melissa Casper for sixth all-time in Webster women's soccer history. This is her second Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week award this season.
