ST. LOUIS, Mo. – This evening the Webster University men's soccer team took the field as they played host to the Greenville (Ill.) University Panthers in a SLIAC matchup. The Gorloks defeated the Panthers by a final score of 1-0 to improve to 16-1-1 on the season and 12-0-1 in SLIAC play. With the loss, the Panthers fall to 10-8-1 on the year and 8-4-1 in the conference.
The Gorloks were outshot in this one by a final count of 13-5 and they were unable to put a shot on target. However, they led in the corner count as they finished with two corners while the Panthers did not have any.
Webster came out in the first half and controlled the tempo early. They were able to take a 1-0 lead in the 18
th minute of the contest on an own goal from the Panthers.
Isaac Pearson was the last player to touch it for the Gorloks as he headed the ball in the box towards the goal. The Panther defender went to clear the ball but accidently kicked it over his keeper and into the back of the net.
The Gorloks continued to play well as the game progressed and never gave in to the Panthers pressure. They were able to play solid defense throughout and held off Greenville to solidify the win.

Matthew Cathro, and
Carlos Llamas all finished with one to lead Webster.
Matt Coffey was in goal for the Gorloks as he recorded one save in his fifth solo shutout of the season.
The Gorloks are back in action for their final game of the regular season on Saturday, October 30
th when they travel across the river to Elsah, Illinois, to take on the Principia (Ill.) College Panthers in a SLIAC matchup. The game is set to start at 1 p.m.
