Gensel Named Academic All-District®

ST. LOUIS, Mo. –  This morning the 2021 Academic All-District® Women's Volleyball Team, selected by CoSIDA, was announced. For her efforts on the court and in the classroom, Kyra Gensel was named to the 2021 Academic All-District® NCAA Division III Volleyball Team for District V. This is her second straight season being named Academic All-District®.

The 2021 Academic All-District® Women's Volleyball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Gensel, a senior defensive specialist out of Clarkton, North Carolina, is a biology major with an impressive 3.99 grade point average. She played a key role for the Gorloks who finished the year with a 13-14 overall record and 6-6 mark in SLIAC play. Gensel appeared in a team leading 100 sets through 27 total matches on the season. She led the team with 364 total digs on the year while recording a team high 3.64 digs per set. She also added three kills and 36 assists on the season. She was named SLIAC Defensive Player of the Week on September 13th and finished with double-digit digs in 19 matches on the year.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-December.
