ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Webster University men's soccer team will host Fontbonne (Mo.) University on Thursday, November 6
th in the SLIAC Men's Soccer Tournament Semifinals. The game is set to kick-off at 7:30 p.m. at World Wide Technology Soccer Park.
The Gorloks finished the regular season with an overall record of 17-1-1 and a 13-0-1 mark in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. They won their ninth SLIAC Regular Season Title and earned the top seed in the SLIAC Tournament. Their 17 wins is a program record for the Gorloks.
The Gorloks won both of their matchups this season against Fontbonne as they defeated the Griffins on September 25
th by a final score of 2-1 and on October 13
th by a final score of 1-0. They out shot the Griffins 34-18 in those two games while putting nine shots on target compared to seven from the Griffins.
Aamahn Murvin and
Mark Moore led the Gorloks offensively as they both finished in the top five in the conference for points. Murvin led the way for the Gorloks as he tallied a team high 14 goals and eight assists for 36 total points on the season. Moore finished the year with 10 goals and six assists for 26 total points on the season.
Matt Coffey led the way defensively for Webster as he finished with an overall record of 16-0-1 in net for the Gorloks. His 16 wins tied Jeff Reis for the most wins in a season for a keeper that was set in the 1999 season. He finished the year at the top of the SLIAC in save percentage (.864), goals against (6), and goals against average (.41) while earning SLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors twice on the year.
The price of admission will be $5 for adults and $3 for individuals 16 and under.
The winner of this game will move on to the SLIAC Men's Soccer Tournament Finals on Saturday, November 6
th and will face the winner of the other semifinal game between Greenville (Ill.) University and Spalding (Ky.) University.
