ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Webster University volleyball team hits the road tomorrow, November 4
th, as they travel across town to Fontbonne (Mo.) University to take on the Griffins in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball Tournament. The match is set to start at 7 p.m.
The Gorloks finished the regular season with a 12-13 overall record and 6-6 mark in the SLIAC. They earned the fifth seed in the SLIAC Volleyball Tournament and will take on the fourth seeded Griffins in the first round.
Webster dropped both of their matches against Fontbonne this season as they fell in the first match in four sets (22-25, 22-25, 25-15, 16-25) and the second match in five sets (25-23, 22-25, 20-25, 25-16, 10-15). They finished with 90 kills between the two matches.
Lauren Borik has been the key to the Gorloks success this season as she leads the team in kills (323) and is second on the team in digs (284) and blocks (49).
Mary Nelson has also played a big role as she leads the team in assists (261) while sitting second in kills (194), tied for second in service aces (26), third in blocks (33), and fourth in digs (217). Nelson has recorded four triple-doubles on the season which is the most in program history.
Admission into the contest will be $5 for adults and $3 for individuals that are 16 or under.
If the Gorloks win, they will travel to Greenville, Illinois, on Saturday, November 6
th to compete in the SLIAC Tournament Semifinals hosted by Greenville (Ill.) University.
