FENTON, Mo. - Webster University men's soccer used a five goal offensive flurry in the second half here Tuesday evening en route to scoring a season high seven goals in picking up a 7-1 victory over Blackburn College in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action at Worldwide Technology Soccer Park.
The seven goals are the most scored by the Gorloks in match since scoring 10 goals at Blackburn on Oct. 23, 2019, and the most goals in a home match since tallying a 7-0 win over Iowa Wesleyan on Oct. 24, 2015.
With the victory, Webster improved to 6--1-1 overall and 4-1-1 in the SLIAC, while Blackburn fell to 2-4-0 overall and 1-4-0 in the league. The win also moved the Gorloks into second place in the league standings and improved them to 4-0 at home on the season.
Junior forward
Aamahn Murvin (Sahuarita, Ariz./Walden Grove) scored two of Webster's seven goals, while sophomore midfielder/defender
Tavis Cameron (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway South) assisted on three of Webster's seven goals with all the assists coming in the second half. The three assists are tied for the most in a match in school history and the most since Zach Gyuricza had three assists against Iowa Wesleyan in 2015.
Murvin, who recorded his second two goal game of the season and the eighth of his career, has now scored a team and SLIAC-best six goals this season and his 14 points are also tops in the league.
Four of Webster's five second half goals came in a span of nine minutes.
Webster jumped out to a fast start in Tuesday's match as sophomore
Jarret Gabriele (Rolla, Mo./Rolla) put in a shot from 15 yards in the back of the net just 94 seconds into the match. The goal by Gabriele was his third of the season, which is second most on the team.

Henok Moges (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway North) gave the Gorloks a 2-0 lead in the 22nd minute as he scored of a rebound shot from junior midfielder
Isaac Pearson (St. Louis, Mo./Maplewood-Richmond Heights) for his first goal of the season.
In the first half, Webster outshot the Beavers, 14-3 and held a 5-1 edge in shots on goal.
Blackburn would prevent a shutout as Anthony Coppotelli took an assist from Hayden Reese and scored from about 15 yards out in the 52nd minute to cut Webster's lead to 2-1.
Murvin would score his first goal just three seconds into the 68th minute as he put a shot up from three yards out off a cross from freshman forward/midfielder
Mark Moore (Hillsboro, Mo./Hillsboro) to give the Gorloks a 3-1 lead.

Noah Abraham (Hazelwood, Mo./Hazelwood West) got into the scoring column in the 71st minute as he put a shot into the goal from three yards out off a pass from Cameron to make it 4-1 in Webster's favor.
About four minutes after Abraham's goal, junior midfielder
Justin Kohler (Waterloo, Ill./Waterloo) connected on a penalty kick in the 75th minute for Webster's fifth goal of the night. The goal was the second for Kohler and he is one five Gorloks with at least two goals this season.
Murvin would add his second goal early in the 77th minute as he took a pass from Cameron and connected on a shot in the bottom of corner of the goal from eight yards out.
The Gorloks completed the scoring late in the 86th minute as freshman forward/midfielder
Armin Jusufovic (St. Louis, Mo./Bayless) tallied his first career collegiate goal off a pass from Cameron as he connected from right in front of the goal from two yards out.
Webster finished the night with a 28-7 edge in shots and an 18-3 advantage in shots on goal. In addition, Webster also took seven corner shots to Blackburn's five shots.
On the night, eight Gorloks took at least two shots in the match with Murvin leading the way with four shots and four shots on goal, while Moges and Kohler added three shots in the win.
Senior
Matt Amick (St. Louis, Mo./Lindbergh) allowed just one goal and made two saves in 90 minutes of action. Amick improved to 3-1-0 on the season with the win.
Coppotelli recorded four of Blackburn's seven shots and took three of his team's four shots on goal.
Dawson Klunk (2-4-0) took the loss in goal for the Beavers as he allowed seven goals and made 11 saves.
The Gorloks return to action on Saturday, April 3 as they travel to Belleville, Ill., for a 1 p.m. exhibition match at Southwestern Illinois College. The Gorloks next SLIAC match is scheduled for Wednesday, April 7 as they host Spalding in a 7:30 p.m. match at Worldwide Technology Soccer Park.
