Box Score Fenton, Mo., Sept. 4, 2021 – The Webster University women's soccer team opened its home portion of the 2021 schedule with a 1-0 win over Monmouth College (Ill.) Saturday at World Wide Technology Soccer Park in Fenton, Mo.

Webster improved to 1-1 with the win, while Monmouth fell to 0-2. The victory for Webster head coachÂ
Luigi Scire was the 330th of his career.

Jordan Lande scored the lone goal of the contest in the 19th minute for the Gorloks. The tally for Lande was the 32nd of her career, tied for 10th most in school history.

Playing in a steady rain, Webster dominated the opening 45 minutes of play outshooting the Scots 7-3. JuniorÂ
Jaqlyn Ferguson nearly broke the tie in the 15th minute when her shot from 30 yards out went off the crossbar and remained in play.

Just four minutes later, the Gorloks found the back of the next for the first time this season after Lande buried a cross in the box from freshmanÂ
Grace Rodgers to make it 1-0.

The rain departed World Wide Technology Soccer Park for the second half, which resulted in even play for both teams.

The Gorloks lone chance to find the back of the net in the second half was in the 86th minute after juniorÂ
Jordan Bilyeu's shot from inside the 18 was deflected out of bounds on a diving save by Monmouth goalkeeper Quinn Cutler.

Webster outshot Monmouth 15-8, and the Gorloks had a 2-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Heather Jones picked up the win in net playing the first 65 minutes making four saves, before giving way to juniorÂ
Taryn Banfield for the final 25.

Webster travels down Big Bend to take on No. 4-ranked WashU on Monday, Sept. 6 at. 1 p.m.
