Five Gorloks Win Weekly Award

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – This afternoon the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced the Player of the Week awards for the week ending on Sunday, September 2nd. The Gorloks had five individuals take home the awards as Cameron Sakuma was named Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week, Kyanne Ruth Williams was named Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week, Aamahn Murvin was named Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, Grace Rodgers was named Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, and Reaghan Young was named Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.

Cameron Sakuma, a senior out of O'Fallon, Missouri, took 94th place out of 412 runners over the weekend at the Louisville Classic. He finished the 8K race with a time of 27:10 which was his fastest 8K time of the season. This is his third career SLIAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week award and his second this season.

Kyanne Ruth Williams, a senior out of St. Louis, Missouri, finished in 41st place out of 356 runners at the Louisville Classic over the weekend. She finished the 5K race with a time of 19:53 which was her fastest 5K time of the season. This is her fifth career SLIAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week award and her fourth of the season.

Aamahn Murvin, a fifth-year senior out of Sahuarita, Arizona, recorded nine total points in two SLIAC wins last week. He scored two goals in a 6-0 win over Eureka (Ill.) College and then tallied two goals and an assist in a 3-2 win over Principia (Ill.) College. His second goal against Principia was the 50th of his career making him just the second player in Gorlok history to reach the 50-career goal mark. He currently leads the conference with nine goals and 21 points while ranking fifth in the conference with three assists. This is his second straight SLIAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week award and the sixth of his career.

Grace Rodgers, a sophomore out of O'Fallon, Missouri, lifted the Gorloks to a 2-1 record on the week. She scored two goals and added two assists for six total points in a 10-0 win over Eureka (Ill.) College and then followed that up with a goal in a 5-0 win over Principia (Ill.) College. She is currently tied for the team lead with five goals and four assists while leading the team with 14 points. She is currently tied for fifth in the conference in goals and assists. This is her first career SLIAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week award.

Reaghan Young, a senior out of Naperville, Illinois, played a big role for the Gorloks at the right back position last week. She scored two goals and added two assists for six total points against Eureka (Ill.) College and then tallied an assist in a 5-0 win over Principia (Ill.) College for seven total points. She also anchored a defense that allowed just two goals in three games on the week. She is currently tied for the team lead, and tied for fifth in the SLIAC, with four total assists on the season. This is her first career SLIAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week award.
