ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced the men's soccer all-conference teams as well as the superlative awards for the 2022 season. The Gorloks placed five players on the first team, one on the second team, and two on the third team. In addition,
Aamahn Murvin was named the SLIAC Offensive Player of the Year,
Tavis Cameron was named the SLIAC Defensive Player of the Year,
Mike Siener was named the SLIAC Coach of the Year,
Jonny McCarthy was named to the SLIAC All-Sportsmanship Team, and the team received the Sportsmanship Award.
Head Coach
Mike Siener win's his third straight, and fifth overall, SLIAC Coach of the Year award after leading the team to a 13-2-3 overall record and an 11-1-2 mark in conference play. They won their third straight SLIAC Regular Season title and the 10
th in program history. His team was ranked in the last seven straight United Soccer Coaches Regional Poll's reaching as high as fifth. The Gorloks finished the regular season ranked in the top 50 nationally in 11 statistical categories including 21
st in goal differential (32), 25
th in save percentage (.841), seventh in shutout percentage (.667), 16
th in team goals against average (.556), and 20
th in won-lost-ties percentage (.806).
FIRST TEAM ALL-SLIAC
Aamahn Murvin, a fifth-year senior forward out of Sahaurita, Arizona, earned his third straight SLIAC Offensive Player of the Year award. He finished the regular season with a team high 14 goals and six assists for a team high 34 points. He recorded three or more points in seven games this season including a stretch of five straight games. His 14 goals and 34 points led the conference while his six assists were tied for second. Of his 14 goals on the season, 13 of them came in conference play including game winners against Fontbonne (Mo.), Blackburn (Ill), Spalding (Ky.), and Westminster (Mo.). He currently has 55 career goals making him just the second player in program history to reach the 50 career goal mark. He finished the regular season ranked 20
th in the nation in total goals (14), 18
th in total points (34), and 20
th in points per game (2.00). He is the first player in Webster history to win three straight SLIAC Offensive Player of the Year awards and the third in conference history. This is his fifth straight All-SLIAC selection and his third straight season being named to the first team.
Tavis Cameron, a senior defender out of St. Louis, Missouri, earned his first career SLIAC Defensive Player of the Year award after anchoring a back line that allowed just 10 goals all season long. He started 17 games for the Gorloks on the year and played a major role in the teams 12 total shutouts. The team allowed just eight goals to conference opponents this season while recording nine shutouts. He becomes the third straight Gorlok to win Defensive Player of the Year and the sixth player in program history. This is also his first time being named First Team All-SLIAC.
Noah Abraham, a junior midfielder out of Hazelwood, Missouri, appeared and started in 17 games for Webster this season. He recorded four goals and two assists for 10 total points on the year. He scored the game winner in a 2-0 win over Wabash earlier this season and posted 10 shots on goal throughout the year. Of his 10 points, six of them came in conference play with all of them coming in back-to-back games. In addition, he was named the SLIAC Offensive Player of the Week once this season. This is his second straight All-SLIAC selection and his first time being named to the first team.
Isaac Pearson, a fifth-year senior out of St. Louis, Missouri, started in all 16 games he appeared in this season. He finished the year with two goals and two assists for six total points. His two goals were both game winners as he scored the game winner against Monmouth (Ill.) College and the game winner against Eureka (Ill.) College. He finished second on the team with 21 shots on goal which ranked fifth in the conference. This is his second straight season being named All-SLIAC and his first time on the first team.
Ty Baudendistel, a freshman goalkeeper out of Perryville, Missouri, appeared in 13 games in goal for the Gorloks and made 10 starts. He finished the regular season with a 9-1-1 overall record while posting six solo shutouts and 32 total saves. He posted an 8-1-1 overall record in conference play and led the league in both goals against (7) and goals-against average (.64). He also ranked 51
st in the nation in save percentage (.821) and 40
th in total shutouts (6) while being named the SLIAC Defensive Player of the Week once this season. This is his first career All-SLIAC First Team selection.
SECOND TEAM ALL-SLIAC
Mark Moore, a junior forward out of Hillsboro, Missouri, made six starts in 18 appearances for Webster this season. He finished second on team with six goals and 18 points while being tied for first on the team with six assists. His six goals all came in conference play including game winners against Fontbonne (Mo.), Eureka (Ill.), and Spalding (Ky.). He finished the season ranked fourth in the SLIAC in total points (18) while finishing tied for second in total assists (6). He was named the SLIAC Offensive Player of the Week once this season and tallied 18 shots on goal throughout the year. This is his second straight All-SLIAC selection and his first time on the second team.
THIRD TEAM ALL-SLIAC
Matthew Cathro, a junior midfielder out of Columbia, Missouri, appeared and started in 14 games for Webster this season. He recorded 10 shots on the year, including four on target. He played a major role for the Gorloks in the central midfield and was instrumental in getting the attack going all year long. This is his first career Third Team All-SLIAC selection.
Jonny McCarthy, a senior defender out of Hazelwood, Missouri, appeared and started in 17 games for Webster this season. He finished second on the team with 1,346 total minutes and was a key component to the Gorloks steady back line. He played center back and right back for a back line that allowed just eight goals in conference play and was instrumental in the Gorloks 12 total shutouts. This is his first career Third Team All-SLIAC selection.
