ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Webster women's tennis team was back in action this afternoon when they played host to the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis for a nonconference matchup. The Gorloks defeated the Eutectics by a final score of 7-2 to improve to 9-8 on the season.
The Gorloks took two out of the three matches in doubles. After dropping #1 doubles,
Emma Ferguson and
Kylie Chitwood were able to defeat Emilia Gautier and Ainsley Fortschneider by a final score of 8-2 in #2 doubles.
Emily Casey and
Maddie Mena picked up the second win in #3 doubles as they won by forfeit.
Webster dominated the singles portion of the match as they went 5-1.
Emma Ferguson defeated Erin Davis in #2 singles by final scores of 6-0 and 6-3.
Bailey Higgins won #3 singles over Ainsley Fortschneider by final scores of 4-6, 6-0, and 10-4.
Kylie Chitwood won #4 singles over Emilia Gautier by final scores of 6-0 and 6-1. Lastly,
Emily Casey won #5 singles and
Maddie Mena won #6 singles by forfeit.
The Gorloks return to the court tomorrow, April 3
rd when they travel to Troy, Illinois, to take on the McKendree (Ill.) University Bearcats. The match is set to start at 1 p.m. at Triad High School.
