ST. LOUIS, Mo. – This afternoon the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced the 2022 Women's Cross Country Preseason Poll. The Gorloks are picked to finish third after receiving 30 points in the poll. Greenville was picked to win the conference after finishing with 42 points and six first place votes.
The Gorloks return two runners from last years championship team including
Kyanne Ruth Williams and
Megan Bartz. Williams was the last years individual champion in the SLIAC as she finished with a time of 23:24 which was 15 seconds faster than the second best time. She then went on to compete in the Midwest Regional Championships where she finished 34
th overall. Bartz finished last year's SLIAC Championship in 12
th place which was the fourth best mark on the team.
Both Bartz and Williams were two of six runners named to the SLIAC Preseason Watch List along with Gretchen Cape (Greenville), Sedina Logan (Greenville), Olivia Mansfield (Greenville), and Laura Mayo (Principia).
In addition to the two returners, the Gorloks add
Aissata Kamara to the roster. Kamara is a freshman from St. Louis, Missouri.
The Gorloks will kick off their season on Thursday, September 1
st when they travel across the river to Elsah, Illinois, to compete in the Principia Cross Country Opener. The race is set to start at 5:30 p.m.
