MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Webster University tennis team was back in action this evening when they traveled to Minneapolis, Minnesota, to take on the University of Northwestern (Minn.) in the UMAC Women's Tennis Tournament Semifinals. The Gorloks fell to the Eagles by a final score of 5-0 to fall to 15-12 on the season. With the win, the Eagles will advance to the UMAC Women's Tennis Tournament Final.
The Gorloks got off to a slow start in doubles as the Eagles won all three matches.
Erin Brezovar and
Bailey Higgins played a highly competitive match in #1 doubles but ultimately fell to Annie Orvis and Abby Johnson by a final score of 8-7.
Emma Ferguson and
Kylie Chitwood dropped #2 doubles to Damiano Baideme and Elise Jarchow by a final score of 8-4. Lastly,
Maddie Mena and
Bailee Pineda fell in #3 doubles to Taylor Smith and Analise Marquardt by a final score of 8-1.
The Eagles went on to win #3 and #4 singles to solidify the victory.
Bailey Higgins fell in #3 singles to Domiano Baideme by scores of 6-1 and 6-1.
Kylie Chitwood dropped #4 singles to Elise Jarchow by scores of 6-2 and 6-2.
Erin Brezovar was leading in #1 singles before the match ended as she won the first set by a final score of 6-1 and led in the second set 3-2.
This marks the end of the 2022-23 women's tennis season. They end the year with a 15-12 overall record and a 1-2 mark in conference play. The Gorloks will return to the court in the fall.
