HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Webster University women's tennis team was back in action this afternoon when they played their final match of their spring break trip against Catholic University of America (DC). The Gorloks defeated the Cardinals by a final score of 6-3 to improve to 8-5 on the season. With the loss, the Cardinals drop to 5-7 on the year.

The Gorloks got off to a great start in doubles as they took two out of three points. Bailey Higgins and Kylie Chitwood defeated Mairead O'Hara and Ava Niggemeier in #1 doubles by a final score of 8-2. Evie Schuetz and Bailee Pineda picked up the second point for Webster in doubles as they won #2 doubles over Meaghan Laniewski and Paige Brightwell by a final score of 8-6.

Webster carried their momentum over into singles as they took four out of six points. Bailey Higgins won #1 singles as she defeated Jane Krunkiel by final scores of 7-6 (0) and 6-2. Bailee Pineda won #3 singles as she defeated Meaghan Laniewski by final scores of 6-3 and 6-4. Chloe Daughtry took #5 singles over Marissa Stambaugh by final scores of 6-4 and 6-1. Lastly, Carlie Barban won #6 singles over Ava Kaloustian by final scores of 7-6 (0) and 6-3.

The Gorloks will return home on Thursday, March 21^st when they travel to Godfrey, Illinois, to take on Lewis & Clark Community College for a nonconference matchup. The match is set to start at 3:30 p.m.
