CONWAY, Ark. – The Webster University women's tennis team was back in action this morning when they traveled to Conway, Arkansas, to take on the Hendrix (Ark.) College Warriors for a nonconference matchup. The Gorloks fell to the Warriors by a final score of 8-1 to drop to 5-2 on the year.
The Gorloks got off to a rough start in doubles as the Warriors were able to score all three points.
Bailey Higgins and
Maddie Mena dropped #1 doubles by a final score of 8-2 to Eleanor Burks and Avery Stephens.
Kylie Chitwood and
Navone Armstrong dropped #2 doubles as they fell to Josie Leffingwell and Emma Self by a final score of 8-4.
Carlie Barban and
Chloe Daughtry competed in #3 doubles and fell to Kate Adcox and Ayden Huckelbury by a final score of 8-0.
The Gorloks were able to get on the board in singles as they were able to score one of six possible points.
Evie Schuetz had the lone win for Webster as her and Ayden Huckelbury split the first two games 0-6 and 6-2 before Huckelbury forfeited. In addition,
Bailey Higgins dropped #1 singles by final scores of 6-0 and 6-1,
Kylie Chitwood dropped #2 singles by final scores of 7-5 and 6-3,
Maddie Mena fell in #3 singles by final scores of 6-0 and 6-1,
Bailee Pineda fell in #4 singles by final scores of 6-1 and 6-0, and
Navone Armstrong dropped #6 singles by final scores of 6-4 and 7-6 (1).
The Gorloks will return to the courts tomorrow, March 3
rd when they travel to Clarksville, Arkansas, to take on the University of the Ozarks (Ark.) for a nonconference matchup. The match is set to start at 9 a.m.
