Gorloks Capture Regular Season Sweep Over Lyon With 3-0 Victory

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Webster University volleyball team revert back to conference play with a match against Lyon College. The Gorloks captured the regular season sweep over the Fighting Scots with a 3-0 victory. With the victory, Webster improves to 4-5 in conference play.  

Lyon opened the match with the 6-2 advantage that included a kill by Tyler Ramstack. The Gorloks countered back with three consecutive points that cut the deficit to 5-6 on kills by Ramstack and Delaney Fullenkamp while Delaney Morio added a service ace. Lyon responded with a 6-3 run that generated the 8-12 that included back-to-back kills by Eva Tarlos


With the four-point deficit, the Gorloks constructed a 7-1 run that took the 15-13 advantage that included a kill by Grace White, an assisted block by Ramstack and White, and a service ace by Lauren Harms. Following consecutive points by Lyon that tied the set at 15 apiece, Webster rallied for a 6-2 run for the 21-17 lead. In the run, Megan Zablonski recorded three kills while Morio added another service ace as Fullenkamp and Tarlos paired up for an assisted block. Late in the set, both teams traded points to the score of 23-20. Webster closed out the set with back-to-back kills from White and Riley Watson for the 1-0 set advantage. 

The Gorloks and Scots opened the second set with back-and-forth action to a tie at three apiece that included kills by Lauren Harms and White as Lauren Peterson added a service ace. Moments later, Webster countered with a 6-0 run for the 9-3 advantage. In the run, Morio added two service aces while Ramstack and Fullenkamp contributed one kill each as Fullenkamp and Tarlos paired up for an assisted block. 

The set continued with back-and-forth play to the score of 14-8 that included kills by Tarlos, Harms, and Ramstack while Peterson added a service ace. Shortly later, the Gorloks extended their lead to 19-12 with a 5-1 run that started on a kill by Zablonski. Moments later, Ramstack added three kills while Tarlos and Zablonski capped off the run with an assisted block. 

Late in the set, the Scots chipped back with a 6-1 run that cut the lead to 20-18 that included a kill by Tarlos. However, the Gorloks closed out the set with a 5-2 run on two service aces by Tarlos and Watson while Fullenkamp and Ramstack added a kill each. 

Webster and Lyon opened the final set with back-and-forth play as a kill by Tarlos tied the set at four apiece. Moments later, both teams traded 3-1 runs and 2-0 runs to a tie at 10 apiece. With the set tied, Lyon added a 6-1 run that took the 16-11 lead. Moments later, the Gorloks chipped back with a 6-2 run that cut the deficit to one at 18-17. In the run, Tarlos and Fullenkamp recorded an assisted block as Fullenkamp, Harms, and White added a kill each. 

With a two-point deficit at 17-19, Webster added a 4-1 run that took the 21-20 lead on kills from White and Zablonski. Moments later, Lyon achieved set-point with a 4-2 run. However, the Gorloks recorded three consecutive points as White closed out the match with a kill for the 26-24 set victory. 

For the match, Ramstack led the attack with 10 kills while Tarlos recorded eight as White added seven. Watson and Morio eclipsed double-digit assists marks led by Watson with 16 while Morio contributed 14. Defensively, Watson collected a team-high 12 digs while Peterson secured eight. At the net, Fullenkamp and Tarlos recorded four blocks each.
