Price Scores Game-Winning Goal; Gorloks Shutout Scots 1-0 For Third Consecutive SLIAC Victory

BATESVILLE, Ark. - The Webster University men's soccer team continued conference play with a road match at Lyon College. Webster's Scott Price netted the game-winning goal in the first half as the Gorloks defense held strong for the 1-0 victory over the Scots. With the victory, Webster improves to 6-6-1 (4-2 SLIAC) and extends their win streak to three games.  

In the opening minutes of the match, Webster and Lyon each recorded an attack and a shot. In the sixth minute, the Gorloks constructed a counter attack that resulted in a shot by Price as his shot hit the post but no rebound shot was found. Midway through the first half, Webster added another counter attack that resulted in a shot by Marcos Gonzales-Collado but was blocked. 

Shortly later, in the 34th minute, the Scots constructed another counter attack which resulted in their first shot on goal but it was saved by Luke Dillon. Six minutes later, in the 40th minute, the Gorloks constructed a counter attack that resulted in a goal by Price for the 1-0 lead. With that goal, it marks his seventh of the season. In the final moments of the first half, Alberto Duque Gonzalez had a great scoring chance but his shot on goal was saved by Gabriel Rangel as the Gorloks took the 1-0 lead into halftime. 

In the opening 10 minutes of the second half, the Scots added a shot on goal but it was collected by Dillon. In the 60th minute, Juan Ignacio Martins Ferreira had a great chance at the net but his shot missed wide left. Less than four minutes later, Lyon had another look at the net but the shot by Tiago Donadon missed high. In the 66th minute, Webster added another attack that resulted in a shot on goal by Duque Gonzalez but it was saved by Rangel. 

Shortly later, in the 78th minute, Lyon recorded another offensive attack that resulted in a shot on goal by Donadon but Dillon saved it. For the remainder of the match, the Gorloks defense held strong which led to the victory. 

For the match, the Gorloks recorded six total shots led by Price and Duque Gonzalez with two each while Gonzales-Collado and Ferreira added one shot each. In net, Dillon recorded three saves and his sixth victory of the season.
