Ramstack Records Career High 19 Kills In Five-Set Victory Over Spalding: Gorloks Clinch Spot In SLIAC Tournament At MUW Tri-Match

COLUMBUS, Miss. - The Webster University volleyball team competed in the final conference Tri-Match of the season at the Mississippi University for Women Tri-Match with contests against Spalding and MUW. The Gorloks secured a spot in the 2025 SLIAC Volleyball tournament with a five-set victory over Spalding University led by Tyler Ramstack's career-high 19 kills. Webster dropped the second match of the day to MUW 1-3. With the split, Webster moves to 6-7 in conference play.

Match 1: Webster 3, Spalding 2

Webster opened the match with the early 7-0 advantage that included three kills by Ramstack, a kill by Megan Zablonski, and an assisted block by Eva Tarlos and Ramstack. Following consecutive kills by Spalding to the score of 8-3, Webster responded with an 11-3 run to the 19-6 lead. In the run, Lauren Harms contributed two kills while Ramstack and Leah McGrath added one kill each. Also in the run, Delaney Morio and Riley Watson and one service ace apiece.

Late in the set, the Golden Eagles added a 5-2 run to the score of 21-11 that included kills by Ramstack and Tarlos. The Gorloks closed out the set with a 4-1 run with kills by Ramstack and Carley Hersberger for the 25-12 victory. 

The Golden Eagles opened the second set with a 14-4 advantage that included a kill by Zablonski. Moments later, the Gorloks chipped back in the set with a 11-3 run and cut the deficit to 15-17. In the run, Tarlos contributed two kills while Harms added one kill as Watson and Tarlos recorded an assisted block. However, Spalding closed out the set with a 8-2 run that included kills by Zablonski and Ramstack which tied the match at one apiece. 

Spalding opened the third set with the 6-3 early advantage that included two kills by Ramstack. Moments later, the Gorloks countered with a 6-2 run and took the 9-8 lead on kills by Hersberger, Zablonski, and Harms. Following the Webster run, Spalding added three unanswered points that took the 11-9 lead. With a two-point deficit, Webster responded with a 10-0 run that took the 19-11 lead. In the run, Ramstack added three kills while Harms added two. In addition, Watson contributed two service aces while Rennier added a solo and an assisted block. The set continued with both teams trading 3-0 runs to the score of 22-14. The Golden Eagles added a 4-1 run that cut the lead to 23-17. Zablonski closed out the set for the Gorloks with a kill and a solo block that took the 2-1 match lead.

The Golden Eagles opened the fourth set with the early 5-2 lead that included two kills by Ramstack. Shortly later, the Gorloks cut the deficit to one at 7-8 with kills by Harms and Rennier. Moments later, Spalding increased their lead to 12-7 with a 4-0. Immediately following that Spalding run, Webster countered back with a 5-1 run that included a kill and service ace by Rennier and cut the deficit to 12-13. The game of runs continued as the Golden Eagles added a 4-0 run and stretched the deficit to 12-17. Immediately following the Spalding run, Webster added a 4-1 run that included a kill by Ramstack and a solo and assisted block by Hersberger that made the score 16-18. However, the Golden Eagles closed out the set with a 7-4 run that forced a fifth set. 

Webster opened the final set with the early 7-3 advantage that included two kills by Harms and a kill by Watson and Morio each. Moments later, Spalding countered with a 5-1 run that tied the set at eight apiece. With the set tied, the Gorloks added a 4-1 run with kills by Morio, Tarlos, and Harms which took the 12-9 lead. Following the run by Webster, Spalding responded with a 4-0 run that took the 13-12 advantage. With a one-point deficit, the Gorloks added back-to-back kills from Ramstack and Zablonski for the 14-13 lead. Moments later, Spalding added consecutive points for the 15-14 lead. However, the Gorloks closed out the match with three unanswered points that included a solo block by Rennier for the victory. 

For the match, and in addition to Ramstack's 19 kills, Harms recorded 12 kills while Zablonski added seven. Watson earned a season-high four service aces. Defensively, Zablonski led with 14 digs while Harms 10 digs. At the net, Zablonski, Tarlos, and Hersberger recorded three blocks each as those three blocks by Hersberger marked a new career-high. 


Match 2: Webster 1, MUW 3

Webster and MUW opened the match with back-and-forth action to a tie at four apiece that included two kills by Ramstack and one kill by Harms. Moments later, the Owls added a 6-1 run that pushed the score to 5-10. Both teams continued the set with back-and-forth play to the score of 11-16 that included two kills by Harms. With a five-point deficit, the Gorloks responded with an 8-1 run that took the 19-17 lead. In the run, Zablonski contributed two kills while Rennier and McGrath added one kill each. In addition, Morio added a service ace while Lauren Peterson capped off the run with a service ace. Moments later, MUW added consecutive points that tied the set at 19 apiece. Late in the set, the Gorloks added a 3-0 run on three errors by the Owls which made the score 22-19. Webster and MUW traded points for the rest of the match that included kills by Ramstack and Zablonski as the Gorloks won the set by the score of 25-22.

The Owls opened the second set with the early 12-5 advantage that included kills by Harms, Zablonski, and McGrath. Moments later, the Gorloks cut the deficit to 8-13 with a kill each from Tarlos, Harms, and Ramstack. With a seven-point deficit, Webster chipped back in the set with a 5-2 run that made the score 13-17. In the run, Ramstack, McGrath, and Harms added one kill each. However, the Owls closed out the set with a 8-3 run that won the set but included two kills by Harms. 

Webster and MUW opened the third set with back-and-forth play to a tie at three apiece that included two kills by Ramstack and a kill by Zablonski. Moments later, the Owls added a 4-0 run that made the score 3-7. With the deficit, Webster cut the deficit to one at 6-7 with a kill by McGrath, a service ace by Abby Murzyn, and a solo block by Rennier. Webster and MUW continued the set with separate runs; MUW added two 4-0 runs while the Gorloks added two 3-0 runs to the score of 12-17. In the first Gorlok 3-0 run, Rennier and Harms contributed one kill each while Harms recorded a solo block. In the second 3-0 Webster run, Harms added another kill while Watson laid down a service ace. 

With a three-point deficit at 12-15, the MUW stretched their lead to 23-12 with an 8-0 run. Late in the set, Webster added a 5-1 run with kills by Zablonski and Jaycee Lewis. However, MUW closed out the set with a kill for the set victory.

Webster and MUW opened the final set with back-and-forth play to a Gorlok 5-4 advantage that included a kill each by Tarlos, Zablonski, and Rennier while Rennier recorded a solo block. Moments later, the Owls constructed a 4-0 run that made the score 5-8. Immediately following that run, the Gorloks countered with a 4-1 run with a kill each by Rennier, Harms, and Tarlos that tied the set at nine apiece. 

With the set tied, MUW added a 3-0 run that made the score 9-12. The set continued with back-and-forth action as the Gorloks cut the score to 14-15 with kills by McGrath, Zablonski, and Ramstack. However, the Owls closed out the match with a 10-2 run that included a kill by McGrath. 

For the match, Harms led the team with 11 kills while Zablonski and Ramstack had eight kills each. Setters Watson and Morio combined for 32 assists led by Watson with 18. Defensively, Rennier tied her career-high with three blocks. 

The Gorloks will play in their final non-conference match of the season on Tuesday, November 4th with a visit to Hannibal-LaGrange University with first serve at 6:00PM in Hannibal, Missouri.
