"We were very happy to see Ally come back from injury and see her have success at the plate in conference play over the second half of the season. With her bat, she helped propel us in some close games. We know she was disappointed at the beginning of the season, not being able to play with her injury, when she had a path for more playing time. Seeing her take control in the second half of the season was remarkable. We were excited to see her career end the way it did, scoring the winning run on a walk off hit, by fellow senior Luka (Emma Bovaconti) in their last game" said Head Coach Al Sampson.
Stichling, a junior utility player from Cedar Hill, Missouri earned her first career All-Conference honor with a Third Team All-Conference selection. This season, she started all 18 conference games mainly at Designated Player and while making eight appearances in the circle. In the box, the cleanup hitter recorded led the team in three categories; batting average of .420, an on base percentage of .500, and eight walks. In addition, she finished second on the team with an OPS of .980 and third on the team with a .480 slugging percentage. In 50 conference at-bats, she recorded 24 total bases, 21 hits, and 13 RBI's,
In the circle, the right-hander made eight appearances that included two starts that included an undefeated 4-0 record. In those eight games, she posted a 4.04 ERA in 26 inning pitched. In those 26 innings, she recorded 15 strikeouts and allowed only four walks. Lastly, she pitched two complete games.
"Madi was the model of consistency with her hitting all year. She was also able to have success on the mound as well, when called on, and helped fill in holes for us on the corners. We are happy to see her success rewarded. She has put a lot into this program over the last few years and seeing that pay off, couldn't be happier for her" said Head Coach Sampson.
Rodriguez, a first-year student-athlete from Troy, Illinois got her Gorlok career off to a great start with a Third Team All-Conference selection at pitcher. In the circle, Rodriguez appeared in nine games that included three starts and 2-1 record. In those nine games, she posted a team-low 3.29 ERA and while posting a 1.71 WHIP. In addition, she recorded a team-high 34 innings pitched, 39 strikeouts, and two complete games as those 39 strikeouts finshed in a tie for fourth in the conference.
"What ARod was able to do as a freshman was a pleasant surprise, and we look forward to seeing her grow over the next three years. She has set the bar much higher for herself and can't wait to see what she does over her career. She pitched in a lot of big games this year and rose to the challenge each time" said Head Coach Sampson.
Every year, the SLIAC conference includes one individual from each school for the All-Sportsmanship Team. In order to be on the All-Sportsmanship team, coaches and fellow teammates vote for one student-athlete on the team who best displays the ideals of sportsmanship that include fairness, civility, honesty, unselfishness, respect, and responsibility. WU's Dickens was named to the 2025 All-Sportsmanship Team from Webster University.
Dickens, a senior from Bonne Terre, Missouri capped off her Gorlok career with an All-Sportsmanship Team award. This season, Dickens started 17 conference games where she played multiple positions that include shortstop, third base, and pitcher. In the box, she recorded a batting average of .309 that included an OPB of .813 and a slugging percentage of .436. In 55 conference at-bats, she recorded 17 hits that included a team-high seven doubles while adding six RBI's. In the circle, the right-hander appeared in two games that included one start. In those two appearances, she pitched five and two-thirds innings and recorded three strikeouts.
"Cheyenne is what you hope each player is. She was a great teammate and always worked hard. She gave 110% at every practice and workout we did. She was always trying to get better, and you could see the determination in her face. With Cheyenne, it was more at times, to get her to relax and enjoy her senior season. She did whatever we asked of her. If it was playing a new position, shortstop, or doing whatever we needed, she was always ready to do it and never hesitated. Our biggest disappointment is we only got to coach her one year and didn't have more years left to coach her more. We are going to miss her" said Head Coach Sampson.
These four student-athletes mark the first All-Conference selections under Head Coach Sampson.
