Gorloks Fall To Panthers On White Out Night

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Webster University volleyball team closed out a three-game conference homestand by hosting Greenville University for White Out Wednesday evening in Grant Gym. The Gorloks battled the Panthers but fell short by the score of 0-3. Tyler Ramstack recorded team-highs of eight kills and three blocks. 

Greenville seized control early with a 7-1 opening run that featured a kill by Ramstack. Moments later, the Gorloks cut the deficit to three at 4-7 with three consecutive points that included a kill by Jaycee Lewis and a solo block by Eva Tarlos. Immediately following the Webster points, Greenville closed out the set with a 18-3 run as Megan Zablonski added a kill.  

The Gorloks opened the second set in a 9-2 deficit that included kills by Zablonski and Grace White. Moments later, Webster cut the deficit to five at 6-11 with a 4-2 run that featured kills by Ramstack and Fullenkamp as Tarlos added a service ace. Shortly later, the Gorloks kept fighting back and cut the deficit to four at 11-15 with a 4-0 run. In the run, Ramstack added a kill and a solo block while Lauren Peterson contributed a service ace. However, the Panthers closed out the set with a 10-4 run as Ramstack and Tarlos added a kill each. 

Webster battled back in the final set, rallying from an early 7-2 deficit and tied the set at 11 apiece with six kills by five different student-athletes. Following a 5-0 run by the Panthers, the Gorloks answered with a 4-0 run that pushed the score to 15-16. In the run, Ramstack and White recorded an assisted block as Ramstack added a kill while Brynn Peloquin laid down a service ace.

The Gorloks and Panthers continued the set with back-and-forth play that included two kills by Ramstack and three GU attacking errors that tied the set at 20 apiece. Moments later, Greenville achieved match-point with a 4-0 run with four consecutive kills. The Gorlok's late rally of three consecutive points fell short by the score of 23-25. 

Webster will continue conference play on Saturday, September 27th with two matches at the Spalding University Tri-Match starting against Lyon College at 12:00PM eastern time in Louisville, Kentucky.
