LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Webster University men's cross country team finished 18th at the Louisville Classic on Friday, posting 468 points while using the meet as an opportunity to preview the course that will host the conference championship later this season.
The Gorloks were led by senior Ethan Nieroda, who finished 25th overall with a time of 27:05.5. Nieroda was Webster's top finisher and led the Gorloks in team scoring.
Webster received strong performances throughout its lineup, with seven of the team's eight runners recording either a personal record or season best.
Sophomore Simon Muthemba finished second for Webster in 27:57.9, while sophomore Brayden Halter crossed the finish line in 28:44.8. Freshman Jayden Perry followed in 29:20.2, and sophomore Tyler Mooney rounded out Webster's top five in 29:59.2.
Sophomore Gabe Feaman finished in 31:06.3, followed by senior Johnny Imboden in 31:53.7. Senior Jacob Hawkins completed the Webster lineup in 36:14.7.
"I'm pleased with how the guys performed today. It was a great opportunity to preview the conference championship course, and I think our guys rose to the occasion. I'm happy with where we are at one month out from conference."
The Gorloks will return to action on Friday, Oct. 16, competing in the Bradley Pink Classic at Newman Golf Course in Peoria, Illinois. The meet is scheduled for a 12 p.m. start.
