15th-Ranked Gorloks Fall To Millikin In Tennessee

MILLINGTON, Tenn. - The 15-ranked Webster University baseball team opened the weekend at the 2026 Babe Howard Classic with a decision against Millikin University. The 15th-ranked Gorloks fell to the Big Blue by the score of 1-8. With the loss, Webster moves to 1-3 overall. 

Left-handed pitcher Ryan Greifelt earned the start on the mound for the Gorloks and recorded two quick outs. Moments later, Millikin got runners on the corners and later struck first on the scoreboard with one run. In the bottom half, James Theodore led off the frame with a single but was caught stealing. However, that was the only runner for the Gorloks in the inning. 

In the second, both teams did not score a run as Greifelt sent down the Big Blue in order with a groundout, a strikeout and a flyout.

In the third, Millikin recorded consecutive hits that led to a sacrifice fly that made the score 0-2. In the bottom half, the Gorloks got a runner into scoring position but did not scratch a run. 

In the fourth, both teams recorded a scoreless inning as Greifelt worked out of a two-hit jam with fielder choice plays. 

In the fifth, Greifelt had three quick outs that included a strikeout. In the bottom half, Dalton Groves led off and reached on a hit-by-pitch. With two outs, Theodore laced a single to right that moved Groves to second, both runners were left stranded. 

In the sixth, Webster made a pitching change and called upon Bauer Dalke out of the bullpen as he recorded a scoreless inning with two strikeouts. 

In the seventh, Millikin added four runs that included a sacrifice flyout and a three-run homerun that made the score 0-6. In the bottom half, Groves got the inning going with a double and later advanced to third. With two outs, pinch hitter Matthew Lanier reached base on an error by Millikin's shortstop that allowed Groves to score which made the score 1-6. 

In the top of the eighth, Webster called upon reliever Jack Wilson as he recorded two quick flyouts. Following a walk, Millikin added a run on a double. Following a hit-by-pitch, Webster called upon reliever Colton Eggerding. With two outs, Millikin added a run that made the score 1-8. 

In the bottom of the ninth, Ethan Wielt led off with a single to right as Jonah Taylor entered the game as the pinch runner. However, Taylor was left stranded on first which ended the game. 

For the game, Theodore recorded three of the team's five hits while Wielt and Groves had the other two hits for Webster. 

On the mound, Greifelt pitched five complete innings, recorded four strikeouts, and allowed one earned run. Dalke delivered one and one-third innings and recorded three strikeouts and one hit. Mevert and Rompala-Matthews recorded one out each as Rompala-Matthews out was a strikeout. Wilson recorded two outs but allowed two runs. Eggerding closed out the final inning and a third and had one strikeout.
