Jon Petter will help guide the Webster Cross-Country and Track & Field programs as an assistant coach.
Petter arrived at Webster after coaching at the high school level for five years. He has coached five all-state runners, two state top-ten teams, and helped build several St. Louis area programs. In addition, he holds Level I USATF certification and is a member of the MTCCCA.
“Coach Petter’s experience and skills will be a great addition to our staff,” said head coach Dusty Lopez. “He believes in the Division III values of development and participation for the love of the sport. He will really boost our efforts to establish the Webster track program locally and throughout Missouri, and we are very excited to have him.”
Petter’s success in running began in 1995 where he competed at Eureka High School and was part of the 1998 3A State Champion team. He continued running intramural and road races while attending the University of Missouri, winning top team honors as part of his racing team. There he earned a master’s in education.
Currently, Petter teaches psychology, sociology, and history at Webster Groves High School and runs competitively for a local racing team.
Petter and his wife, Ashley, have two children (one due August 2010) and reside in Eureka, Missouri.
