David Comens

David Comens is in his third year at Webster University on the men’s soccer staff. 

During his first year, Comens helped the Gorloks’ goalkeepers to a 1.28 goals-against average with a 0.33 goals-against average in the SLIAC. This included a 564-minute scoreless streak, and starter Ian McReynolds was named to the All-Conference second team that season.

Comens also coaches at the club level for St. Louis Scott Gallagher.  In 2015-16, he served as the goalkeeper coach for the U-14 and U-15 U.S. Soccer Development Academy teams. In addition, he coached teams in the U-12 and U-17 age groups.

During the summer of 2015, Comens served as the goalkeeper coach for the Saint Louis F.C. Super 20s, which qualified for the National Championships.
Comens currently works in the ECNL Program as the goalkeeper coach for the U-15 through U-19 teams.

Additionally, Comens is the goalkeeper coach for the Saint Louis F.C. Under 19s as well as the U-19 and U-23 Elite Women’s Programs.

His coaching career began in 2010 at Parkway Central High School in St. Louis, where he served as both the boys' and girls' assistant varsity/goalkeeper coach until 2015.

Comens graduated from Parkway Central and was a two-year captain and two-time All-Conference first-team selection. He played club soccer for St. Louis Scott Gallagher, where his team was a two-time Missouri state champion.

Comens holds a USSF National "C" License and also has a NSCAA Level 2 Goalkeeping Diploma.

His duties at Webster include being the head goalkeeper coach, on-the-field coaching, daily practice planning, game-film analysis, opposition scouting, out-of-state recruiting and travel coordination.

Comens is currently pursuing a master’s degree in business administration from Webster.
