Josh Papes

After a three-year career for the Webster University men’s soccer program, Joshua Papes will begin his first year as Webster University men’s soccer assistant coach. Papes played for the Gorloks from 2012-2014.

During the 2012 season, Papes was part of a defensive unit that combined to have 10 shutouts in 20 games. That year, the Gorloks won the SLIAC regular-season championship and SLIAC Tournament title en route to advancing to the NCAA Division III National Tournament.

Throughout his career, Papes was a utility player who learned both sides of the game to fit wherever the Gorloks’ need was greatest. Papes played in 51 games – starting 37 of them – and accumulated 9 points (1 goal, 7 assists).

Papes also played two seasons for the Webster men’s tennis team from 2012-2013. He went 6-6 in singles action and 17-7 in doubles play. His 17 career doubles victories rank eighth in Webster men’s tennis history. In 2012, Papes was named to the All-Conference first team for doubles.

Before coming to Webster, Papes played the 2007-2010 soccer seasons at McCluer North High School. He compiled 15 career goals, with 12 coming in the 2009 season. During his time at McCluer North, Papes helped the North Stars claim two conference championships and two District championships. McCluer North made two Missouri State Tournament appearances, including qualifying for the Final Four.

Papes’s duties at Webster will include recruiting, scouting, daily practice planning, fundraising and day-to-day operations.
