Zach Haupt

  • Title
    Assistant Track & Field Coach
Zachary Haupt will help guide the Webster University track and field team in its inaugural season as the assistant coach for the sprint, jump, and hurdle events.

Haupt’s coaching experience at the collegiate level is highlighted by three years as a highly successful assistant coach at McKendree University.  Haupt guided many athletes to All-American finishes and was part of the staff that led the women’s team to the 2002 NAIA national championship.  In addition, he holds USATF Level II coaching certification in the jumps and multi-events.

“Zach is going to be an extremely valuable addition to our staff,” said head coach Dusty Lopez.  “He brings enthusiasm, exceptionally strong coaching credentials and technical expertise, but most importantly, he is just the kind of person we need—a hard worker, great communicator, and a strong role model for our student-athletes.”

Haupt made his first break into coaching at Syracuse University, where he was a volunteer assistant for one year in 2000-2001.  Since then, in addition to his work at McKendree, Haupt has also coached athletes at all different levels, including coaching for three summers at the Dick Fosbury Track and Field Summer Camp at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine.  He has also coached young track and field athletes on the club and youth levels.

Haupt’s success in the world of track and field began during his career as an athlete.  Competing in the horizontal jumps for McKendree, he graduated in 2000 as one of the school’s most accomplished jumpers ever, earning All-America honors four times in the triple jump.

Haupt and his wife, Julie, have two children and reside in Lebanon, Illinois.
