A 2016 graduate of Webster University, Max Fecske returns to Webster after a decade of high level amateur coaching. Fecske has spent time in the Big West, West Coast Conference, Ohio Valley Conference, Northwoods League, and Cape Cod Baseball League.
In 2024 Fecske served as the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator at Western Illinois University. Following the 2024 season, Fecske began a stint at Eastern Illinois University. During his time in Charleston, the Panthers saw their two highest conference finishes since 2009 and consecutive berths in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament Championship. In 2025, the Panthers won their first Regular Season Ohio Valley Conference Championship since 2009. The Panthers pitched to a 4.82 ERA (49th) with 3.6 walks per 9 (30th). On April 11, 2025 the Panthers outlasted the SEMO Redhawks 6-3 in 19 innings, the longest game in the history of the OVC- Panther pitchers recorded 12 consecutive scoreless innings. The Panthers also led all of NCAA Division 1 with the fewest hit batters in consecutive seasons with 37 in both 2025 and 2026 respectively. In 2026 Bryce Riggs was voted Ohio Valley Conference Pitcher of the Year, the first Panther to win the Award since 1999.
During the 2023 season, Fecske served as the Associate Head Coach at Glendale College in Glendale, CA. Under the direction of Head Coach Alex Kocol, the Vaqueros won the 2023 Western States Conference- South Championship, as well as a CCCAA Regional, sweeping Pasadena. The Vaquero pitching staff featured two all conference performers and led the conference in BB/9.
Fecske spent the 2022 Summer in the Cape Cod Baseball League serving as a catching and bench coach for the Orleans Firebirds. The Birds 2022 campaign resulted in their first postseason birth since the 2019 season. In 2023 Fecske ran the offense, coordinated infielders and catchers, and served as the hitting and third base coach for the Firebirds. The Birds made their first appearance in the Cape Cod Baseball League Championship since 2013. In Fecske’s time in Orleans, the Birds featured Major Leaguers: Luke Keaschall (MIN), Nate Furman (SFG), AJ Blubaugh (HOU), and Jacob Wilson (ATH).
Fecske began his Division I coaching career as a graduate manager at Cal State Northridge in 2019, handling video coordination, consolidating scouting reports, and assisting with infielders for the Matadors. During the summer of 2019, Fecske was an assistant coach with the Duluth Huskies of the summer collegiate Northwoods League working with infielders and catchers. Fecske then joined the staff at Pepperdine University in the fall of 2019. In two years as a graduate assistant, Fecske assisted with video coordination, scouting reports, and assisted with Pitchers, Catchers, outfielders, and hitters. The Waves finished the 2020 season a consensus top 25 team, with Baseball America ranking them as high as 16th. Fecske served as the volunteer assistant and catching coordinator at Pepperdine for the 2022 season. In his three years at Pepperdine, Fecske worked closely with draft picks: Billy Cook (2021 BAL 10th), Wyatt Young (2021 NYM 15th Round), John Peck (2023 DET 7th), and Ryan Johnson (2023 HOU 8th).
Fecske began his coaching career at his high school alma mater, Notre Dame HS in Sherman Oaks, CA. In 2017, the team won the Mission League championship and featured 2nd Overall Major League Baseball Draft Pick Hunter Greene (2017 CIN 1st) and Freshman All-American LHP Lucas Gordon (2023 CWS 6th). In 2018 the Knights were nationally ranked #1 by Baseball America from February to April making the CIF Division I Playoffs.
Following a prep career at Notre Dame High School, Fecske first played collegiate baseball with Glendale College. As a freshman in 2013, Fecske was part of the Vaqueros’ third consecutive Western State Conference Championship, a CCCAA Regional win and a CCCAA Super Regional berth. He transferred to Webster University in St. Louis, where he was an All-St. Louis Intercollegiate Conference selection as a left fielder for the Gorloks. Fecske was a part of a SLIAC conference championship, an NCAA Division III Central Regional championship and a berth in the 2015 NCAA Division III National Championships. Upon his graduation, Fecske remained tied for the Gorlok record for hits in a game (5, 04/27/2015).
Fecske holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Webster, and master’s degree in American Studies from Pepperdine University. He currently resides in O’Fallon, IL.
