Mike Siener

Mike Siener has spent over 20 years serving in various coaching roles at Webster University, which include stints as Assistant and Associate Head Basketball Coach, Head Men’s and Women’s Tennis Coach, and Assistant and Head Men’s Soccer Coach. He returns as the Assistant Men's Basketball Coach for the 2024-25 season.

Siener spent 10 seasons as the head men's soccer coach for the Gorloks. In Siener's 10 seasons, the Gorloks rolled up a 77-14-9 (.815) record in the SLIAC and a 122-53-20 (0.677) overall record. The last three seasons under Seiner have been three of the most successful season in program history with the following accomplishments being acheived:

    • 9TH In Assist per game (2.73), 3rd in Goal Differencial(56), 10th in Scoring Offense(3.23), 17th in Shots per game(18.91), 12th in Points Per game(9.18), 22nd in Shutout percentage(.545), 19th in Goals Against Average(.668), 4th in Total Assist(60)  4th in Total Goals(71), 3RD In Total Points(202), 8th in Win-Loss percentage(.864), 2nd in Most wins(18)

In 2006, Siener took over both the men’s and women’s tennis programs.  The men’s team amassed just two winning seasons in 20 plus years before taking over both programs.  The women’s program had several successful years, but never won a conference title or reached the NCAA tournament.  

In his 12 seasons as Head Men's Tennis Coach and 8 seasons as Head Women’s Tennis Coach, Siener built two successful programs, while being named Coach of the Year 4 times.  Siener has a career record of 100-73 with the men, and finished 84-26-1 with the women.  During his time as head coach, the Gorlok men’s and women’s tennis teams have shattered every school record along the way.  Most individual wins for a singles player, doubles team, and career marks in both categories have been set.  The men and women also set a school record in total wins with 19, in 2012 and 2013.  The women’s team won the programs first conference titles in 2009, 2010 and 2012 and also made it’s first trips to the NCAA national tournament.  While the men’s team won its first conference titles in 2009 and 2016.  Siener is the all-time winningest coach in both programs history.

From 2000-2011, Siener spent 11 years on the basketball staff at Webster University.  Siener was the Head Assistant and Associate Head Basketball Coach under David Kaneshiro and Chris Bunch.  Siener served as the recruiting coordinator, Head Junior Varsity coach, and took on various other duties during his time. During his tenure as the lead assistant basketball coach, the program reached new heights under the Chris Bunch era. As Bunch’s lead assistant, the basketball program had an overall record of 121-45 and a SLIAC conference record of 103-31.  The men’s program won conference titles in 2002, 2005, 2007, 2008, and 2011. Webster had 20 win seasons in 2008 and the 2011 seasons.  Webster set a school and conference record in 2007 with a perfect 16-0 conference record.  

Siener has been a part of 15 conference championship teams as a player and or coach in his time at Webster.  He is the only coach in Webster University history who has been named coach of the year in three different sports (Men’s Soccer, Men’s Tennis, and Women’s Tennis)

Siener began his college soccer career at Missouri Valley College and soon transferred to Webster University.  

In his final season Webster’s men’s soccer team set the school record for wins with a 16-1-2 regular season record.  During that season, Siener led the team in goals(9), assist (5), and accumulated points(23).  Siener still ranks in the top 20 in several statistical categories. Total points in a season (23), goals in a season(9), career goals(14), career assist(13), career points(41), points per game(.87), assist per game (.28), and goals per game(.30), in just 47 games played.

In three seasons at Webster, he earned all-conference honors 3 times in tennis and soccer.  He was a member of the 1999 Men's Basketball and Soccer teams that one the first conference titles in school history and first NCAA appearances.

Siener is a graduate of McCluer North High school and Webster University in 2001, with a degree in Education and History/Political Science.  He also completed his Graduate degree from Webster in Business in 2007.

Siener and his wife, Jackie, have three children, Maxton, Camden and Finn (Finley).
