Webster lost to Fontbonne University 1-0 on Oct. 30 in the opening round of the SLIAC conference tournament. This loss marks the end of the Gorloks 2008 campaign.

The Gorloks played their hearts out all ninety minutes. Webster took a barrage of shots to the Fontbonne defense, but Fontbonne keeper DJ Kaiping rose to the occasion on each attempt. Kaiping racked up seven saves in the game. Fontbonne senior Bryan Dodson managed to sneak a goal past the Webster defense, which had led the SLIAC with a scant 24 goals allowed.

Webster’s season may be over, but the SLIAC tournament will continue on Nov. 1 at 6 p.m. at Gay Field in Clayton, MO. The game will pit top seeded Fontbonne against number two seed Greenville. The winner of this contest will play in the NCAA national tournament.
