(Jacksonville, Ill.) - The Webster Gorloks picked up a doubleheader sweep over MacMurray on Wednesday afternoon in Jacksonville, Ill. Webster won
16-0 and
5-0.
The Gorloks (
12-10, 3-1 SLIAC) used an 11 run second inning to blow open game one getting two home runs in the inning off the bats of
Dana Vahey and
Allie Park. WU scored in every inning while pounding out 15 hits led by
Nancy LaRosewith three. Five other players had two hits in the contest.
Megan Sperry shut down the Highlanders (4-14, 0-4 SLIAC) offense holding them to just one hit in five innings while striking out five.
In the second game Webster jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first inning then scored a single run in the third and added two more in the fourth to give the pitching staff
all the runs they needed.
Gina Trapani and
Lexie Moore combined for the four hit shutout.
Webster is scheduled to play at Maryville in a conference doubleheader on Saturday afternoon starting at 12 p.m.
