(Sauget, Ill.) –

13-11 win over Blackburn on Sunday afternoon at GCS Ballpark in Sauget, Ill. Steen’s blast came after the Beavers scored twice in the top of the ninth to take an 11-10 lead.
The Gorloks (
12-10, 8-2 SLIAC) fell behind 4-0 in the top of the first after a two run homer and a RBI double and single. They got three of those back in the bottom of the inning thanks to a couple of errors by the BC, (9-17, 7-4 SLIAC), defense. WU took the lead with two in the home half of the second then extended its lead with two more in the third taking a 7-4 advantage after three.
Webster added more cushion in the fifth when

Blackburn began its comeback in the sixth scoring four runs off just two hits and a pair of errors by the Gorlok defense to get within 9-8 and then tyed the game in the seventh on a two out single through the left side but left two runners ending the threat. WU regained the advantage in the eighth on a two out RBI single to left field from catcher
John Combs making 10-9 heading into the ninth.

Greg Bade was called upon and got a fly out to center and a foul out to first before allowing back-to-back singles which allowed two runs to score and give BC the 11-10 lead. The Gorloks refused to go quietly however getting a one out double down the left field line from
Dave Umfleet and a walk to
Andrew Fuiten to set up Steen’s three run shot on a 1-2 pitch over the left field wall for the winner.
Despite allowing two runs in the top of the inning Bade picked up the win to even his mark at 1-1. Nick Leonard took the loss allowing all three runs on two hits in just 1/3 of an inning.
