Softball goes 1-1 at Millikin

(Decatur, Ill.) - The Webster Gorlok softball squad split a doubleheader with Millikin on Sunday losing the first game 1-0 before rallying to pick up a win in game two 3-2.

The opener was a pitcher's dual between WU's (10-10), Megan Sperry and the Big Blue's (8-14), Kristina Bechtold as both pitchers went the distance but it would be Bechtold coming out on top with Millikin scoring a single run in the third. Sperry scattered only three hits in the loss with three strikeouts and a walk while Bechtold allowed just four singles in seven innings with six strikeouts.

In the second game all three of Webster's run came on two out singles. After tying the game in the second the Gorloks took the lead with a run in the sixth and then got an insurance run in the seventh to take a 3-1 advantage into the home half of the frame with the Big Blue getting a two out hit to make it 3-2 but a ground out to third ended the game. Gina Trapani picked up the victory allowing two runs on nine hits with four K's and two walks to improve to 6-2. WU had seven hits in the night cap led by Allie Park with two.

The Gorloks return to action on Wednesday afternoon in a conference doubleheader against MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Ill. at 3 p.m.
